Description

Vanisher is a granular processor and spatial effect that blurs the lines between the cosmic and the worldly. It takes any sound you feed it, chops it up into microscopic particles and reconfigures them in time and space.

Use it for 3D spatial effects, granular blurring and glitches. Your sound goes into a reverb first and the particles are cut from the reverb tail, so even a dry snare comes out as a haze. Turn up VANISH and the particles move around the stereo field and drop in and out.

Signal path

A reverb fills a short buffer. The particles play from it, then go through the filter and the panner before BLEND.

  1. Granular playback

    GHOST
    Sets the size of the particles. Turn it clockwise for larger ones, up to about 400 ms, and counterclockwise for smaller, grainier ones.
    TRANSCEND
    Sets the pitch and speed of the particles. Low settings play them backward, around the center they barely move, and high settings play them forward at the original pitch.

  2. Spectrum filter

    SPECTRUM
    Filters the particles with a low-pass, from 200 Hz to 1.2 kHz. Turn it down for a darker, more distant sound.

  3. Vanish panner

    VANISH
    Sets how much the particles are panned around and faded in and out at random. It also adds a wobble to their speed. Turn it up for restless movement and dropouts.

  4. Master

    BLEND
    Sets the mix between your dry sound and the particles.
    OUTPUT
    Sets the output level, up to double. The center is unity.

Try thisKeep BLEND low and VANISH high. Your original sound stays clear while pieces of it scatter around the stereo field.
