Brooklyn-based music label Puremagnetik and Hi-Fi Provisions present the third edition of Variations for Dusk at Industry City on December 18th. The musician-curated series is a limited capacity event in three acts that invites artists and listeners into an intimate space for an evening of improvised, experimental, musique concrète, and ambient music. Following two months of sold out events, the series continues the format of: residents Larum with guests, instrumental improvisers and an electronic artist.

Larum Ensemble (Micah Frank - modular synthesizer and Chet Doxas - woodwinds) continue their year-long project of researching, performing and documenting the works of the 12th Century luminary, Hildegard von Bingen. This month, they invite vocalist Yoon Sun Choi and frequent collaborator pianist Jacob Sacks on their celestial journey as they continue to explore these touchstones of early music. “Choi's pretty voice is as flexible an instrument as you might hear...” - Allmusic.com

Emi Makabe will perform a solo set of original compositions for voice and shamisen. Makabe’s performances interleave the ancient and contemporary by combining the sounds of her native Japan with those of New York City’s creative and improvised music scene — a community in which she continues to infuse her unique scope and singular vision.

Rounding off the evening, ambient/techno producer, Earthen Sea (from the Kranky label among others), will perform his signature, synthesizer-infused rhythms and textures — crafting a set of dark drones and glacial dub-techno.

All attendees must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
